What Are The Riverlands

Metro Atlanta just leveled up its nature game

Where nature & community meet

The Chattahoochee RiverLands will reunite the River with the metro Atlanta Region and link suburban, urban, and rural communities into a continuous public space. The RiverLands proposes a 125-mile uninterrupted paved trail from Buford Dam to Chattahoochee Bend State Park. The RiverLands is a linear network that includes the Greenway, the Blueway, the Tributary Trails, and the parks, and the destinations they create. This a premiere outdoor destination will bring people to the water’s edge, promote stewardship and conservation of the River, and reveal the subtle magic of the Chattahoochee to all.

Impact & Investments

Originally outlined in the forward-thinking 2020 Chattahoochee RiverLands Study, this transformative vision is becoming a reality. Momentum continues to build, with multiple segments already planned, funded and under construction. Nearly $300 million in early investments are expanding access to the river, connecting residents and visitors to the outdoors to opportunities to paddle, swim, fish, bike, picnic, walk, camp, and view wildlife along the river. This rapidly growing network is drawing people to the water’s edge and fostering a deeper appreciation for the Chattahoochee River.
