Location

overview

Where Nickajack Creek meets the Chattahoochee River is a sandy area casually referred to as “Cobb Beach”. Planned as a RiverLands Social Nook, this destination will provide a welcoming place to gather, relax, picnic, fish, rest along a paddle trip, enjoy the water, and connect with the river’s natural beauty.

Around

the location

Cobb Beach is located where Nickajack Creek meets the Chattahoochee River, just a short distance from Discovery Park at the River Line. This destination will connect directly to the RiverLands Greenway Trail and the future Nickajack Creek Tributary Trail, making it an easy stop whether you’re walking, biking, or exploring the river corridor. Along the RiverLands Blueway, Cobb Beach is planned as a convenient riverside rest stop between the dock at Riverview Park and boat ramp at RiverLands Gateway Park, offering paddlers a place to pause, enjoy the scenery, and reconnect before continuing their journey. Rich bottomland forests, wetlands, and the confluence of the creek and river make this one of the area’s best places for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. Designed as a RiverLands Social Nook, the site will provide opportunities to gather with friends, enjoy educational programs, launch or land a kayak, or simply relax and experience the beauty of the Chattahoochee.

Location

history

For years, people have informally gathered at this stretch of shoreline, affectionately known as “Cobb Beach.” The RiverLands vision builds on that local tradition by transforming the site into a thoughtfully designed public destination that celebrates its unique location at the meeting of Nickajack Creek and the Chattahoochee River. As part of the RiverLands Showcase, Cobb Beach will become a place where people can experience the river, learn about its ecology, and connect with one another in a setting inspired by the natural landscape.
