2019 Parks & Greenspace Conference

Each Spring, Park Pride hosts the annual Parks & Greenspace Conference, the largest parks conference in the southeast, showcasing thought leaders from Atlanta and across the nation. Through education and inspiration, the conference focuses on best practices for companies and individuals who are united by a common desire to improve parks and strengthen communities. At the March 2019 conference, the theme was “park as the heart of community.” The Design Team hosted an afternoon break-out session called, “Chattahoochee RiverLands: Hands-on Workshop.” The break-out session was described as a charrette-style session offering participants a chance to share their thoughts and ideas for this 100-mile long regional park from Buford Dam to Chattahoochee Bend State Park. The session was facilitated by Chris Barnes, Senior Associate at SCAPE Landscape Architecture and project manager for the Chattahoochee RiverLands Design Team, Vanessa Lira from the Atlanta City Studio, Eric Meyer, Planning Division Manager at Cobb County DOT, Walt Ray, Director of the Chattahoochee River Program at the Trust for Public Land, and Byron Rushing, Bicycling & Walking Program Manager at the Atlanta Regional Commission.
