Cochran Mill Park offers a variety of outdoor amenities centered on hiking, trail use, and scenic exploration. The park features an extensive trail system with both multi-use and hiking-only trails, including routes that lead to waterfalls, creek crossings, and elevated viewpoints. Picnic areas, shelters, and a small playground are available near the main entrance, along with a gravel parking lot. Trails range in length and difficulty, supporting activities such as hiking, trail running, and mountain biking. The park’s design prioritizes a natural setting, with amenities intentionally limited to preserve the landscape and provide a quiet, immersive outdoor experience.
Cochran Mill Park is named after Cochran Mill Road, which historically led to a grist mill that once served the surrounding rural community. The area was part of a working agricultural and mill landscape during the 19th and early 20th centuries, relying on local creeks for water power. Over time, as milling operations declined, much of the land remained undeveloped. Fulton County later acquired and preserved the property to protect its natural resources and provide public access to open space. Today, the park reflects Chattahoochee Hills’ commitment to land conservation, maintaining the area’s rural character while offering residents and visitors access to one of the region’s largest natural park spaces.
Chattahoochee RiverLands Pedestrian Trail Bridge
The City of Smyrna and Trust for Public Land are exploring a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge across the Chattahoochee River. This bridge could improve connections between existing and planned trail systems in Smyrna and Atlanta while creating new opportunities for recreation, mobility, and access to the river. Share your input on project priorities, potential uses, and how this connection could serve the community.
