
WAWA Service Learning Saturday @ Hartnett Community Garden

Join the National Park Service for a guided walk through the Sope Creek Corridor, featuring mature oak-hickory forest, mesic ravines, and xeric ridge tops. We’ll explore diverse summer plant life—wildflowers, ferns, and shrubs—and discuss traditional uses for medicine, dyes, and more. Wildlife signs are often visible. See the forest through a naturalist’s eyes!
Location: Sope Creek parking lot, Cochran Shoals Unit3760 Paper Mill Road, Marietta, GA 30068. Meet at the bulletin board.
Facilities: None on-site. Nearest facilities at Terrell Mill Park (1.5 miles west): 480 Terrell Mill Rd, Marietta, GA 30067
Difficulty: Leisurely pace with several uphill climbs. Frequent stops for discussion. Not suitable for very young children.
Bring: WATER, layered clothing, and comfortable hiking shoes. Be prepared for weather and terrain.
