SUMMARY:Postponed- Paddle to Buzzard Roost
DESCRIPTION:This event will be rescheduled to a later date in the near future.\nThis event is postponed due to the high levels of E. coli contamination in the Chattahoochee River in Roswell/Sandy Springs and downstream. \nTPL would like to thank the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area\, the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and local municipalities for addressing these issues so quickly and decisively. These organizations play a key role in keeping people safe in and near our region’s greatest ecological asset. \nPlease check the park website for the latest on conditions before you head to the river. https://www.nps.gov/chat \nThank you for your interest and be sure to Follow RiverLands and Chattahoochee RiverKeeper for other opportunities to meet us at the river!\nChattahoochee Riverkeeper and Trust for Public Land’s are teaming up to host this 11-mile paddle trip through a part of the river not accessible to most – but great things are coming for this stretch of river. \nJoin us as we paddle from Riverview Landing in Smyrna to the Highway 166 Bridge off Campbellton Road. We will be spending a great deal of time exploring Buzzard Roost Island. \nParticipants must register on the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper website. \n

SUMMARY:RiverLands Volunteer Workday
DESCRIPTION:Volunteers will be led by TPL staff to prepare the RiverLands Trailhead Park site for guided tours and events while we begin the design of the site. Volunteers will be removing invasive plants including privet and vines and other under story plants in work area\, clearing trails\, making and installing signs\, removing trash\, and/or spreading mulch. The volunteers will use shovels along with hand pulling\, and other small equipment such as weed eaters\, blowers\, weed wrenches\, and pruners as they are comfortable. \nWhile you are there\, guides will lead you to points along the RiverLands site\, where the Trust for Public Land and Cobb County will build a portion of a 2.7-mile section of greenway trail\, trailheads\, overlooks\, and other amenities. \nMeeting point coordinates: 33.780097\, -84.534521 \nThis site does not have an address. It is located at the intersection of Discovery Blvd. and Mableton Pkwy. There is a driveway entrance on Mableton Pkwy just west of the river. Please pull into the site to make room for other vehicles. \nLook for a TPL sign along the road. \nWe suggest volunteers wear long pants\, long sleeves\, comfortable shoes\, and sun protection\, and bring water and gloves (if you have them). \nQuestions?
