DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Second Saturday Sweep: Chattahoochee Community Cleanup! Each month\, Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy hosts a cleanup at one of the park units along Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. It is a great way to explore more of the beautiful 66 miles of trails and 48 miles of river the National Park Service protects. Help us protect and preserve the beauty of the Chattahoochee River by participating in this community cleanup effort! We will begin our day by meeting at the trailhead in the parking lot of the CREEC Unit at 10 AM. We will walk as a group across the bridge to pick up trash along the water and trail of the CREEC Unit. All necessary supplies will be provided\, including trash pickers\, gloves\, and trash bags. This cleanup takes place in a hiking environment\, so please wear appropriate clothes and sturdy shoes suitable for outdoor activities. \nWe recommend: \n\nComfortable\, long sleeved pants and shirt\nClosed-toe shoes with good traction (hiking boots or sturdy sneakers)\nA hat and sunscreen for sun protection\n\nCome make a difference for the community and our environment. SUMMARY:CRK Paddle Clean-Up: DNR Boat Ramp to Campbellton Park
DESCRIPTION:Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is pleased to host this paddle cleanup in partnership with Chattahoochee Hills\, Trust for Public Land\, and Heard County Outfitters. \nWe will be paddling from the Highway 166 DNR Boat Ramp to Campbellton Park Boat Ramp in south Fulton near Chattahoochee Hills. This 5-mile section of river is mostly slow moving with a few moderate riffles. \nSpecific trip details\, including the address of where we’ll be meeting\, will be emailed to you a week prior to the trip date. Volunteers must provide their own kayak or canoe\, paddling gear\, water and lunch/snacks. CRK can provide a few sit-on-top kayaks as they are available. Additional details will be provided in your confirmation email. \nWe will meet at the put-in at 8 a.m.\, unload boats\, then everyone drives to the takeout and shuttle back via Heard County Outfitters. Tips appreciated for the drivers. Passengers (people who rode with someone else) will stay with the boats while we shuttle. DESCRIPTION:Join the National Park Service for twilight discovery at Sibley Pond. We will begin our adventure by looking for the amazing and wonderful creatures living in the waters of Sibley Pond. Using nets we will search for dragonfly nymphs\, tadpoles\, minnows\, newts\, and scuds! As twilight settles\, we will take a safari walk around Sibley Pond looking for all of the creatures that fly\, swim \, or crawl. We will focus on the wonderful diversity of frogs that might be out and about. We will identify these amphibians by their appearance and by their vocalizations. Heat and humidity will determine if and how many frogs we might encounter. This is a terrific and very fun activity. We will conclude by walking along the edge of the river where you might see geese\, ducks\, a great blue heron fishing in the shallows or maybe a Midland Water Snake. Wonderful wet excitement awaits. We might catch a glimpse of an Osprey or a even a Bald Eagle. All youth must be accompanied by an adult. \nFacilities: Located in the Hewlett Lodge Visitor Center \nDifficulty: Fairly easy walking on level ground around the pond. SUMMARY:CRK Paddle Clean-Up: New RiverLands Park to Coweta Riverside Park
DESCRIPTION:Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is pleased to host this paddle cleanup in partnership with Chattahoochee Hills\, Trust for Public Land\, and Heard County Outfitters. \nWe will be paddling 6 miles from the New Riverlands Park to the Coweta Riverside Park south of Atlanta. This section has moderate moving water and perfect for beginners and experienced paddlers. \nSpecific trip details\, including the address of where we’ll be meeting\, will be emailed to you a week prior to the trip date. Volunteers must provide their own kayak or canoe\, paddling gear\, water and lunch/snacks. CRK can provide a few sit-on-top kayaks as they are available. Additional details will be provided in your confirmation email. \nWe will meet at the put-in at 8 a.m.\, unload boats\, then everyone drives to the takeout and shuttle back via Heard County Outfitters. Tips appreciated for the drivers. Passengers (people who rode with someone else) will stay with the boats while we shuttle.
