SUMMARY:New Riverlands Park Master Plan - Community Event
DESCRIPTION:New RiverLands Park\, one of the catalytic sites identified by the RiverLands Master Plan\, is expanding! While a new pavilion\, kayak launch\, and campgrounds are already open and available to the public\, the bulk of the 290+ acre property remains inaccessible. The City of Chattahoochee Hills\, in collaboration with Trust for Public Land and Chattahoochee Now\, is ready to begin the master planning process for the rest of the site. The resulting plan will define the future uses of this land and create opportunities for greater regional connectivity aligned with the RiverLands vision. \nChattahoochee Now has engaged with HGOR\, an Atlanta design firm\, to develop the master plan. The team has already begun studying the site and will be looking to engage with Chattahoochee Hills residents this summer to understand what you want to see in your park. \nThe first of two community meetings will be held at the New RiverLands Park Pavilion on Saturday\, June 6th from 10am-12pm. The design team will present the project’s goals and research to date and invite you to share your ideas. All are welcome to participate. The pavilion is ADA accessible with dedicated parking for those who need it. Children are welcome\, and activities will be provided for their participation. Please come out and enjoy the day with us! \nPlease be on the lookout for additional project updates through the RiverLands social media accounts and event page here: https://www.chattahoocheeriverlands.com/upcoming-events/ \nYou can also sign up for the City of Chattahoochee Hill’s regular newsletter here: https://www.chatthillsga.us/residents/stay_connected.php \nVisit the official project webpage here: https://www.chatthillsga.us/visitors/riverlands.php \n

SUMMARY:Rivers Alive
DESCRIPTION:Smyrna is located next to the Chattahoochee River\, a vital water source for the metro Atlanta area\, providing drinking water for over 5 million people and supporting local ecosystems and recreation. However\, litter in our rivers and streams poses a serious threat to wildlife\, water quality\, and the overall ecosystem. When litter enters our waterways\, it pollutes\, harms wildlife\, and often travels downstream\, ultimately reaching our oceans. \nThat’s where Rivers Alive comes in—our largest water initiative dedicated to tackling this issue head-on. Each year\, volunteers come together to clean up the tributaries that flow into the Chattahoochee River. Through this annual litter cleanup\, we help prevent litter from polluting our waterways\, protect wildlife\, and preserve the natural beauty of our region. \nDate & Location\n\nSaturday\, October 24\, 2026\n9:00am to 12:00pm\nChattahoochee River National Recreation Area\, Paces Mill Unit (3444 Cobb Pkwy\, Atlanta\, GA)\n\nVolunteer\n\nVolunteers and groups welcome!
