SUMMARY:CRNRA Crayfish Volunteer Workday
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a hands-on volunteer workday to support Crayfish Creek\, a vital tributary of the Chattahoochee River! We’ll be installing protective cages around recently planted trees\, as these young trees need a little extra care to thrive and add shade to the creek. We’ll provide the materials\, tools\, and guidance — you bring your helping hands and community spirit. \nWhat to bring: Comfortable weather appropriate clothes\, sturdy shoes/muck boots\, water bottle\, and snacks. \nAbout the Crayfish Creek Restoration Project \nLocated in Sugar Hill near the Highway 20 Bridge overpass\, Crayfish Creek is one of many tributaries to the Chattahoochee River. A tributary is a freshwater stream that feeds into a larger stream or river and plays a vital role in the overall ecosystem. Tributaries provide habitats\, deliver nutrients\, and move organic materials\, sediment\, and chemicals. \nCrayfish Creek is an important tributary of the Chattahoochee because it helps to maintain the water quality necessary for the successful spawning of trout. Unfortunately\, the Crayfish Creek tributary has become impaired due to erosion and lack of riparian canopy (the forest land adjacent to a stream). A large restoration effort is now underway initiated by members of the Upper Chattahoochee Chapter of Trout Unlimited\, Oconee Chapter of Trout Unlimited (TU)\, and TU’s University of Georgia Five Rivers Club. CNPC is proud to join this incredible team of partners in restoring Crayfish Creek! \nTo register for this event go to: https://campscui.active.com/orgs/WestAtlantaWatershedAlliance?orglink=camps-registration&e4q=a3db53c7-016a-4c08-9f93-10ecd9363e7e&e4p=3009ec49-9792-44d8-b963-469e409d4ede&e4ts=1748364104&e4c=active&e4e=snlvcmpscui00001load&e4rt=Safetynet&e4h=0b106f58ac2f5251e205e2140ede7227#/selectSessions/3584946
