DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the 47th birthday of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area with a gift of service! Established on August 15\, 1978\, this nationally recognized park is a vital green space in metro Atlanta—and now it’s your chance to show it some love. Join us for volunteer events throughout the week of August 11th – 16th to celebrate the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area’s Birthday! \nWe’ll be tackling two important projects at Powers Island: \n\nRemoving English ivy\, a destructive invasive species that threatens native plants\nConducting a land-based trash cleanup along park trails\, roads\, and green spaces\n\nWhat We’ll Provide: \n\nTrash bags\nGloves (sizes available for youth and adults)\nLitter grabbers (limited supply)\n\nWhat to Bring / Wear: \n\nClosed-toe shoes (required for trail work)\nWeather-appropriate clothing (light layers\, hat\, etc.)\nRefillable water bottle\nBug spray and sunscreen (recommended)\nA love for nature and a willingness to pitch in!\n\nMinimum age for our volunteers is 10 years old.
