We’ll explore a variety of habitats—gravel trails\, boardwalks\, and forest paths—during prime bird activity hours. \nWhether you’re new to birding or already know your warblers from your woodpeckers\, this walk offers something for everyone. We’ll cover birding basics and binocular tips along the way. \nFacilities: Restroom and water fountain available near the meeting spot. \nDifficulty: Fairly level walking; gentle terrain. \nBring: Water and appropriate walking footwear. \nNote: Children welcome. Please leave pets at home. \nA $5 daily parking pass or annual pass is required at all Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area park units. SUMMARY:NPS Twilight Wildlife Program: Sibley Safari
DESCRIPTION:Join the National Park Service for twilight discovery at Sibley Pond. We will begin our adventure by looking for the amazing and wonderful creatures living in the waters of Sibley Pond. Using nets we will search for dragonfly nymphs\, tadpoles\, minnows\, newts\, and scuds! As twilight settles\, we will take a safari walk around Sibley Pond looking for all of the creatures that fly\, swim \, or crawl. We will focus on the wonderful diversity of frogs that might be out and about. We will identify these amphibians by their appearance and by their vocalizations. Heat and humidity will determine if and how many frogs we might encounter. This is a terrific and very fun activity. Please join us. \nTime: \n\nDrop-In pond discovery 7:00 – 8:00 pm\n\n\nTwilight safari walk 8 – 9:15 pm\n\nLocation: 3670 Paper Mill Road\, Marietta\, Georgia 30067. From the parking lot follow the old farm road down the hill to Sibley Pond. We will walk back to the parking lot so all participants can exit the park by closing time at 9:15 pm. \nFacilities: None. Close by facilities at Terrell Mill Park 1.5 miles west: 480 Terrill Mill Rd\, Marietta\, GA 30067 \nDifficulty: The walk from the parking lot is very short. Easy level walking around the pond. \nNOTE: You MUST have a working flashlight or headlamp to participate. Headlamps will be worn pointed downward. \nBring: Water and you might include snacks. \nA $5 daily parking pass or annual pass is required at all Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area park units.
