We’ll explore a variety of habitats—gravel trails\, boardwalks\, and forest paths—during prime bird activity hours. \nWhether you’re new to birding or already know your warblers from your woodpeckers\, this walk offers something for everyone. We’ll cover birding basics and binocular tips along the way. \nFacilities: Restroom and water fountain available near the meeting spot. \nDifficulty: Fairly level walking; gentle terrain. \nBring: Water and appropriate walking footwear. \nNote: Children welcome. Please leave pets at home. \nA $5 daily parking pass or annual pass is required at all Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area park units. DESCRIPTION:Join Self-Preservation Society and West Atlanta Watershed Alliance for a friendly introduction to kayaking with Sylvester Pierce—an ACA-certified instructor and founder of the Self-Preservation Society. Whether you’re a total beginner or just looking to get back on the water\, this is a great chance to learn the basics in a supportive setting. \nRegistration Cost: $25 \nRegistration will close at 11:59 PM July 15th or when we reach capacity. Attendees do not have to know how to swim to participate\, this is a beginner-friendly event in every way. A significant amount of the morning schedule will be spent reviewing safety procedures before transitioning to getting comfortable in the water. \n  \n\nWhat to Bring: \n\nTowel\nSpare clothes\nSnacks (no tree nuts\, please)\nReusable water bottle\nSunscreen\n\nWhat to wear: (Avoid cotton clothes\, if possible) \n\nQuick-drying\, water wicking shirt\nGym Shorts or Swim Trunks\nOld Tennis Shoes\, Closed-toe Sandals or water shoes\nHat with wind strap or chin cord\nSunglasses (sunglass strap recommended)\n\nProvided by organizers: \n\nKayaks\nPFDs\nSunscreen\nLight refreshments\nWater\nGatorade\nSafety whistle\n\n  \nSweetwater Creek State Park requires all patrons to purchase a $5 daily parking pass upon entrance to the park.
