SUMMARY:NPS Campfire Program: Water Wonders & H2O Olympics
DESCRIPTION:Join the National Park Service a hands-on program investigating the stunning physical feats of water. Visit several stations to see how many drops of water you can place on a penny before it spills over or how many pennies that you can get into a cup of water before it spills over. Can you float paper clips? Join us and find out. This will be loads of fun followed by a very leisurely stroll to the river. Along the edge of the river\, you will see old water oaks\, river birch\, black walnuts\, and sycamores. We will discover plants used by the indigenous people and early settlers for food\, medicine\, and dye. We might catch a glimpse of an Osprey or a Great Blue Heron taking flight. Along the trail we will look for wildlife signs\, summer wildflowers\, and ferns. End the beautiful summer evening around the campfire and enjoy the ambiance of the twilight. This is a BYOM event (bring your own marshmallows). You are welcome to roast marshmallows using our great roasting forks.
