SUMMARY:Trail Blazer Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join our guided Trail Blazer walk on Saturday\, June 7 at 8:30 am when we explore the Johnson Ferry North trail with our guide\, Jack Misiura\, Chair of the Sandy Springs Conservancy. \nThe Johnson Ferry North trail\, part of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area\, is on the Cobb County side of the river just after Johnson Ferry Rd crosses over the river on the right. The 1.8 mile beginner-friendly trail goes through hardwood forest\, catches beautiful river views\, visits a small waterfall and large cave outcropping\, and explores a marshy\, wildflower-filled wetland. \nWe’ll meet in the parking lot on the northeast side of Johnson Ferry Rd and the Chattahoochee River. The trail is natural and not paved. Wear good walking shoes. Bring bug spray and hats if desired. \nNational Park Service daily parking pass is $5. Passes are available online or onsite\, credit card required. \nSpace is limited. DESCRIPTION:Join Self-Preservation Society and West Atlanta Watershed Alliance for a friendly introduction to kayaking with Sylvester Pierce—an ACA-certified instructor and founder of the Self-Preservation Society. Whether you’re a total beginner or just looking to get back on the water\, this is a great chance to learn the basics in a supportive setting. \nRegistration Cost: $10 \nREGISTRATION CLOSED. AT CAPACITY. \nSpots are limited. Attendees must be 15 or older to participate. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Attendees do not have to know how to swim to participate\, this is a beginner-friendly event in every way.
