SUMMARY:Second Saturday Sweep: Chattahoochee Cleanup Crew
DESCRIPTION:Join Us for our Second Saturday Sweep: Chattahoochee Community Cleanup! Each month\, Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy hosts a cleanup at one of the park units along Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. It is a great way to explore more of the beautiful 66 miles of trails and 48 miles of river the National Park Service protects. Help us protect and preserve the beauty of the Chattahoochee River by participating in this community cleanup effort! We will begin our day by meeting in the parking lot of the Oxbo Rd entrance at 2 PM. We will walk as a group across the bridge to pick up trash along the water and trail of the Vickery Creek Unit. All necessary supplies will be provided\, including trash pickers\, gloves\, and trash bags. This cleanup takes place in a hiking environment\, so please wear appropriate clothes and sturdy shoes suitable for outdoor activities. \nWe recommend: \n\nComfortable\, weather-appropriate clothing\nClosed-toe shoes with good traction (hiking boots or sturdy sneakers)\nA hat and sunscreen for sun protection\n\nCome make a difference for the community and our environment. SUMMARY:NPS Campfire Program: Historic Uses of Plants + Mud Painting!
DESCRIPTION:Join National Park Service Ranger Jerry Hightower for a campfire\, program\, guided walk and a beautiful summer day coming to an end. Discover new facts about the plants of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area during a program on the historic uses of plants for food\, medicine\, and pigments. We will make Blueberry Ink and you can write and draw using twig pens\, feathers\, and brushes. We will also create works of art using mud from the wetlands. Create your own mud painting! \nJoin us and enjoy the ambiance\, and beauty of twilight on the Chattahoochee. You are welcome to come early and bring a picnic dinner. After the program you are invited to join us on a short twilight walk on the Three Forks Loop Trail. \nThis is a BYOM event. (bring your own marshmallows) We will provide roasting forks. \nFacilities: Located in the Center’s Lodge. \nDifficulty: Easy level walking \nBring: Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking on a forest trail. Dress in layers so that you can adjust to changes in the temperature and activity level.
